We are looking into backup power supply for our GC/MS (two agilent 6890/5973) and our LC/MS (two Waters Acquity UPLC, one with a SQD, one with a TQD). I am curious as to what is out there. I would appreciate any info I can get on what types of backup power you are using, the vendor you went through, etc. Thanks so much!

Most of them are good. Make sure you know peak VA loads, since you'll have to size the UPS according to your peak load requirements.

A lot depends on where you are in the world, and how good the mains supply is. If the worse you are looking at is several minute power interruptions then a battery powered UPS would probably serve - it will need to be a substantial unit to cope with the load you intend to put on it.

If the power goes off for hours or days at a time then you need a backup generator on autostart, the UPS than only has to brindge the couple of minutes that the generator takes to get up to voltage, so the total AH capacity can be lower, although the peak current capacity will be the same as without the generator.
