Hi all
Has anyone used this package (from phenomenex) as we have just bought it and I am wondering how people have found it.

We are an educational establishment and as a result need something that will work reliably without too much troubleshooting (and method development) required each time the tests are carried out.

So far retention times seem very imprecise but we can identify most of the amino acids in the standards.

Kevin

Hi kevinsouls

We (University research) are just starting to get into some amino acid analyses in (1) wine ferments, (2) seagrass leaf tissue and (3) plant phloem using the new Phenomenex kit.

For the wine samples, the major problem will be in overloading the SPE tips, as the concentration of proline is an order magnitude greater than other amino acids of interest.

Phenomenex have sent us out another set of tips with double the loading capacity and we will now be looking into these tips for analysis of the more trace amino acids in the samples.

I would be more than happy to keep in contact with you to keep the discussion open about this application.

Cheers
Greg
