Moisture trap on sample line?

Hello all.

I'm analyzing a gas stream for hydrocarbon contamination, using a cold trap for sample concentration/introduction. Often, this stream has a great deal of moisture, freezes the trap, and I must wait hours for the stream to dry. Do you think I could put a Drierite trap inline without losing my anylates? Would it grab any hydrocarbons <C28?

Thanks for any input.

GCMSNoob,

I have seen drierite used but only in an RGA application. I ran standard with and without and did not notice any significant difference in values but C6 is not C28. C28 is very heavy. Have you considered a perma-pure filter? Especially if no polar constituents, this could be an excellent alternative for you.

Best regards,
