YoungLin GC instruments

Has anybody ever heard of YoungLin GC instruments? Better yet has anybody actually used one? I'd be interested to hear what comments people have on this. Are they regarded as a good manufacturer of GC instruments? If you have used the YL6100 GC and HT300A do you find it troublesome and inconsistent, or perfect every time?

I currently have one in the lab, it looks like a HP5890/6890 but certainly doesnt act like one. And through experience i know it cannot match the spec it claims in the brochure (it died when running an oven cycle from 100C to 350C, got repaired, died again).

Link to their current YL6100 GC and HT300A autosampler

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

We are using two YL6100 for three years , the price / performance ratio is good.
One of the GC is used for pesticide analysis up to 280 C , and the other is used for trigyliceride analysis with temperature program between 50 to 350 C.( on column injection )
Both have FID detectors.

The gc used for pesticide analysis has no problem until now , only routine maintanence applied.
The other one had several issues , because of high temperature program , mostly originated from oven sensors.

The oven sensor cables decayed because of high temperature and replaced three times.

They advertise the oven as capable of up to 450degC runs.
Seems it's not true.

I can't go into details, but don't use these units for any useful work.

Thank you for all the comments. I too have experienced major problems with the units when using high temp programmes (TG analysis, oven temp above 350C). Similar issues of oven sensors melting, heating elements breaking, circuit board issues etc etc. I was just looking for a bit of further info on this from the wider community to confirm my suspicions/fears.

"dont use these units for any useful work"

Seems the best advice to me! Thanks.

We supply them in the UK and have several out there all working fine. Running oven temperatures above 350 and to the 450 limit should not be a problem but they would not be the first supplier to find problems running at very high oven temps. Carlo Erba used to make a special HT version that went to 475C and as Thermo an uprated HT version of the Trace specially for SIM DIS as standard GCs did not last. The 6100 has now been replaced by the 6500. Korean cars were a joke when they first arrived, but offer a true challenge to the European cars now, I was impressed with the 6500, build quality is better than certain Chinese built "premium" brands. Get a quote for one when you are next looking  and remember it is not just price that should determine which you buy, always consider support and service back up.
