Hi,
Does anyone have any ideas about how to profile essential oils in an unknown fragrance matrix other than adding markers in a ms library created in data analysis software?

As an idea, you can characterize essential oils via their terpenes and/or sesquiterpenes. Thus, you can perform RSIM or analyze them via simultaneous full scan and SIM on m/z=136 and/or 204 and get the essential oils fingerprint which will change from oil to oil. Alternatively you can look for unique compounds in the sterol elution time area but this may require special type of analysis.

I've made something similar in my PhD thesis. It was about the development of pattern recognition techniques to evaluate data sets from Py-GC/MS technique. To evaluate all the peaks and substances manually was horrible. Hence I've written my own software to evaluate data sets like these in an automated way:
