I'm using Empower 2 to process data collected from a PDA detector. I was wondering if anyone could give me a good definition of active peak region. It is a parameter that can be set under the purity tab of an Empower 2 processing method. I've noticed that some people in my lab use 100% and some use 90%, but no one has a good explanation for why they use one or the other. Are there advantages/disadvantages to using an active peak region percentage less than 100?

As a rule of thumb,for standard peak area should be greater than 90%.because that shows the specificity and selecti vity of the particular compound at particular HPLC conditions.If the peak area is less than 90% something is happening at that HPLC conditions.So better to proceed if the peak area is >90%.
