Dear All,
Does anyone know - is it possible to use hydrogen in this system as a replacement for helium?

I'm using hydrogen for our ITS40s, Magnums and Saturn IIs so it should work for you too.

I just recommend to vent the MS with a dry inert gas like nitrogen or argon.

Hi Hbj,
Thanks for the reply. How do you "vent" the trap with inert gas?
Add a small flow through the CI line??

I meant venting to atmospheric pressure in case of an emergency or scheduled downtime for maintenance.

Venting with inert gas eliminates the theoretical possibility of a hydrogen explosion that might happen when air is used as vent gas. In fact, Finnigan did require the customer to connect the vent line to either nitrogen or helium. Otherwise, no on-site support was provided.
