Our lab base on Quechers method. We are looking for some good sample divider that can be use for automatically salts and sorbents portion.
Any one use divider from Retsch ?

Now we use small 25ml glass cointerners and weigh sorbents and salts "by hand". Thats the cheapest way but also time consuming. Any ideas
how to keep the prize low and make it faster ?

Don't Quechers normally come with the sorbent already weighed out and the salts in a packet? I am not sure I understand exactly what you are looking for. Which one are you using?

We dont want to buy weighed sorbents. Its much cheaper (5x or even more) to order MgSO4, citrate buffers, NaCl and PSA separately in big containers and weigh it on your own. Its not big problem but would be nice to see how those sample dividers listed in Quechers publication works.

Sure. Lab is located in Poland.

This sentences are from EN 15662:2008 (E) document:

4.12 Sample divider, to automatically portion salts and sorbents

For example from Retsch/Han, PT 100 for Fritsch/Idar-Oberstein, Laborette 27 or Burkle/Lorrach, Repro high precision sample divider. Their use is optional but higly recommended when dealing with high numbers of samples.

NOTE The first two are better for portioning the uffer-salt-mixture while the Burkle Repro is designed for smaller amounts of solids and is much more suitable for portioning the PSA.....

Those dividers are used also to portion salts and sorbents automatically (faster) thats why iam asking here maybe somemone use that kind of equipment in lab.

I find more of them also some super station from chemspeed.
The reason that i post question here is that it would be nice to read opinion from
users ... not the producers.

For standard quechers buffer-salt-mixture we weigh 4g/1g/1g/0.5g separately. Iam curious if it gona be bad
idea to weigh all those components with factor 200x into one big container than only one weigh 6.5g of this
mixture. Iam worry about the homogenity of it...different particle sizes...maybe someone make it this way ?

If you only need accuracy to one (or half) gram than you might be able to use volumes - like a level teaspoon of sugar in cookery. You just need a scoop whose volume corresponds to the weight that you need of each powder. Like these http://www.amazon.com/Brown-747002-Cuis ... They might not be small enough for your smallest weights, but you could file the edges down. They are so cheap that they have to be worth a try. If you do try them please give us feedback.
