Good day, dear colleagues!
I want to ask you, about one question!

I have a task: search of multimethod for sample preparation matrix for identification trace amounts of different of drugs in blood or different matrix. System which will be help me - Agilent GC Q-TOF 7200.
My question, may be you know some completed multimethod, which can help me in this problem and be my starting point.

During five years i worked only with pesticides and in this question helped for me method QuEChERS. I spent sample preparation and obtained full spectra of pesticides in Q-TOF (Q-STAR AB SCIEX) which i I was looking for. It's works properly and very good!

Now, i wants to do same with drugs.

Thank you!
I'll be glad your advice!

With best regards!
Dmitry

Depending on the drug you want to find, your GC-MS may not be much help. Most drug methods use LC-MS. Drugs tend to be much less volatile than pesticides.

Thankyou, for reply MaryCarson.
It should be a screening of all possible compounds

I understand. But I have no choice.
The task delivered, I'm looking for solutions.

Dear dRima,
Normally, drugs can divided into three properties by acidic, basic and neutral properties, if you interesting to identify mostly drugs in one GC injection, it can but so difficute.
You can extract body fluid (blood or urine) by separated at least 2 fractions acidic and basic fractions, I show you a simple method for begin this work,

Acidic fraction : Blood or Urine 1 mL------> adjust pH to acidic condition ---------> LLE -------> Dry with N2 stream and reconstitute ----> inject into GC (Analgesic, Antibiotic, Barbiturates, some Benzodiazepines, Cannabinoids, Steroids etc.)

Basic fraction : Blood or Urine 1 mL ------> adjust pH to basic condition ----------> LLE -------> Dry with N2 stream and reconstitute ----> inject into GC (Amphetamines, Opiates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Antidepressants, Anticonvulsants, Antihistamine, Anesthetic etc.)

Both acidic and basic fraction contains neutral compounds that can detect also.

Morever, you can extract acidic, basic and neutral drugs by using SPE (C8, C18, SCX, SAX or Mixed C8/SCX)
