Dear all,

I am trying to locate analytical methodology for determination of penicilli G and ciprofloxacin using HPLC in brain fluids.

So far, I manage to find a few published papers that have the methodology. However, their sample source is from human serum instead of animal brain fluids. As I am still quite new in this area, may I know if it is applicable to make use of those method and use it to determine in my sample?

I would greatly appreciate if anyone can give me some advise. Would also welcome if there is anyone can share with me their methodology if they have done this analysis of the same drug using HPLC in brain fluids.

Thanks.

Generally: Unless there is a meningitis or other infection, or a highly catabolic state, CSF samples are much easier to handle than blood components. Thus, plasma/serum methods are a good place to start, chances are that you can simplify things. Remember that CSF has very little protein and almost everything else is at a lower concentration than in plasma/serum., even some cations and glucose.
