ELSD lowered response

Hi.

I'm working on carbohydrates analysis on ZORBAX carbohydrate analysis column (4.6x250 mm 5 um). ELSD detection (70°C, 3.7 bar ). 75:25 ACN:water.

All was working well until we have to run another method which uses sulfuric acid as unique eluant (2mN) on an Aminex column. The signal response for the same concentration has suffered a 4-fold reduction. i.e Fructose at 200 ppm used to register a 6 mV signal, and now is registering less than 1.5 mV.

Sulfuric acid afected the detector? What should I do?

Thanks a lot

Clean the light scattering cell and avoid sulfuric acid in the future.
