I have an EZ flash I that I just set up. I am having absolute hell using the system at this point. I have broken 3 columns, ferrules have broken plugging the column connector. Does anyone have any advise for me, at this point I want to trash the system and go back to the slow but sure method. (fyi, when it was working it is great but a simple cleaning of the inlet and I am down for days ordering parts because the column breaks)

Perhaps you can tell us what equipment you are using?
EZ flash can be a set of flash cards, a device to modify memory in a computer, etc
Is there a manufacturer ? Or is this home made?
Have you contacted the manufacturer?
best wishes,
Rod

I looked up your EZ Flash. Your product is one made in China.
Without being able to get local training in its use, it could be a delicate problem to use.
It looks like a good idea, however, but your report is not favorable. Sorry I am not able to help you with it. I have never seen one.
Good luck in finding a local person to assist you.

I installed a few of these years ago. I forget who manufactured them then, but they did work pretty well. I found using a Restek MXT column (Siltek treated stainless steel) instead of fused silica was easier to install. It won't break. You just can't introduce too much of a bend into it or over tighten the ferrules so the column phase doesn't come off and form an active site. What kind of ferrules are you using? I always use the 60% vespel/40% graphite ferrules instead of straight graphite to avoid flaking and clogging injection ports, transfer lines, and detectors...especially on transfer lines and detectors because they're harder to clean.

I have used these in the past (but not got a lot of experience) and they are produced in the US (SC) by Ellutia. You can contact them on the following email address
info@ellutia.com or phone +1 843 614 3640
Hope this helps
