Questions about Agilent 1100 Ion Trap SL

Hi,
I'm trying to get an ion trap calibrated, and I've run into some problems. The diagnostic screen says that everything is working and passes. Occasionally, I'll see an Rf overload failure, but it's not consistent.

I'm trying to infuse the ion trap calibration standard. The lower masses, less than 1000Da, are looking great and have a decent accumulation time. However, if the range is increased to 2000Da, the accumulation time is much lower. At higher masses, the noise is overwhelming any potential mass. This is a non-specific noise.. more of a noisy baseline.

I'm not sure where to start looking into this. I'm wondering if there could be contamination somewhere. Some ideas that I'm considering are as follows. Do any of these sound like an issue that needs resolved?
1) Nitrogen is running through an HDPE line.
2) Spray looks good, but was difficult to get into place.. could it need re-placed?
3) Rough Pump Exhaust is venting to the room.
4) Any other settings that could be installed incorrectly?

Thanks!

Hi,

We noticed if the ICC was unchecked on the Bruker trap software, the 1000-2000Da noise goes away. We had that box checked according to the Agilent instructions in their calibration section. Any explanation for all this? Thanks for any assistance. I'm normally a user of this equipment, not maintenance.

Thanks,
D
