Can ICPMS vacuum pump used on LC-MS pump?

Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

We need change our broken Varian DS602 pumps for varian 1200L LC/MS. One seller has it for 5000$ each. However, same model (DS602) for ICPMS they sell 2000$ less. According to them, they are same except cheaper one has "oil drain fittings". Anybody know what that is? is that matter? I would think no problem at all but that cannot figure out why that difference cost 2000$ difference. Just afraid cheaper one will not work on my LC/MS.
Oil drain fittings would help in draining the oil from the pump (on changing the oil). The oil drain fittings do not account for this difference in price.

Look further into what you get. Be sure the pumps are working. Are you looking at new oru used pumps? Can (will) the seller guarantee operation after the sale and can the seller make good on that guarantee?
The other thing that varies between vacuum pumps is whether they have an oil return system. Many LC-MS pumps have a mist filter with a tube that returns the oil to the pump. This is useful where you might be doing a lot of ballasting (Agilent certainly used to recommend leaving the ballast valve open on some of their old 1100 systems) so you're perpetually pushing oil out the vacuum pump's exhaust.
They are brandnew and has 90 days warranty. The seller is actually a big company.
I did try to buy a refurbished one from some small company. Except the model number, basically they are unware of what the pumps is going to used for. So, I would think on problem.
They told me they are "same" except the oil drain fittings. So, I think they would have the oil exhaust cartridge and return tubing. But good idea I will double check.
Thanks for all the response.
