I am analysing a product by reversed phase chromatography but the only analytical standard I can find is a mixture of two isomers. As a rule of thumb does RP HPLC typically separate isomers would I have to consider Chrial HPLC?

Chris,
RP-HPLC normally does not resolve enantiomers without some very specific procedures. However, the same, can resolve isomers of other types, positional, cis-trans, aromatic, etc.
If you want to quantitate a substance as a racemate (no isomer separation), then you have no problem using the mixed isomer standard. If you send more information about your needs, perhaps I can suggest something more.
good Luck,
