anyone out there know which 8 port serial card ( as in the model number) used to connect 6890's to empower 2. pretty sure its an equinox type, have the octopus leads with the rj45 ends, which connects to the card via a giant serial connector with three rows of pins on top of each other, unfortunately it seems the computer which contained the card was scrapped by our genius IT people, so we need to replace it.#
any help appreciated.
there may be a number of options so if any more nfo is required in order to i.d it, please ask.
thanks
I think its the equinox Avocent card.

I was talking to Waters tech support recently and they mentioned this as the current model.

however, you'll need the cables and Agilent drivers as well.
Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
If you're going to use Windows 7 on your acquisition PC, you will need the new card. There are no 7 drivers for the equinox card - which is available for less $ under a different part number, from different vendors. Poke around in google a bit, you will find it. The avocent card is also available (I think) from other (cheaper) vendors.
Thanks,
DR

having located the paperwork, the original card was an equinox sst-8p pn 990301..
this info for anyone in the future who needs it...

now the next question... this part has been superceded...
anyone know if a later model will do the same job?
ta
forgot to mention.. windows xp sp3 as the OS
Just quickly, the XP equinox card was superceded... and did the same job, but you will also need a new octopus cable as the connector on the card was different...
