Hey, when I run a sample set and I won't be at work when it's done, I always include a shutdown/wash method (chosen when you press start). This method turns off the detector, washing the column, then shuts off flow.
When I come back to the system, communication is lost with the system. I can't control anything from the run sample window. I have to go into configuration, take my system offline and then back online and everything works.

One other related question; say I want to stop a sample set that's running, it automatically switches to the shutdown method I selected, is there any way to stop that from happening? Generally if you have to interrupt a sample set and stop it, it means you need to fix something and run it again...

Thanks!
Instead of specifying a shutdwon method when starting a sample set method, I leave shutdown method blank and start a second sample set method that conditions the column w/ the preferred cleanout method and shuts the lamp off. The shutdown method after this sample set method keeps things off (after running a little more cleanout).
Thanks,
DR

It seems there may be an admin function to take system off line when sample set is complete? Does it happen for every run?

You can alter the sample set, remove the shutdown, save and continue the sample set, prior to aborting the run.
This is a known issue with FR5 and agilent equipment. The way that we got around it is to create a shutdown method set and add it as the last line of teh sample set.
