DL Alpha Tocopherol Acetate by GC

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

I've been trying to run a BP method for tocopherol acetate by GC and although it looks good and the resolution is great I have two peaks for my active  . The Natural Tocopherol under the same conditions produces only one peak.

Is this normal? I'm using a packed column.

What is the temperature of your injection port because all the applications i can see, put the injector at 300°C (with a retention gap before the analytical column ).
Maybe there is a bad vaporisation and you fragment your band width ....

The peaks elute close to each other, correct? The first peak is likely to be the tocopherol and the second peak the tocopheryl acetate (they have different GCMS spectra as well). We normally do the tocopheryl acetate assay by HPLC on a C8 column, with 95% acetonitrile.
