How to get at injection port under agilent autosampler?

This is probably the dumbest question ever asked here but I have tried google and the autosampler manual already. I have a 6890 with 7863B sampler. How do I get to the injection port underneath the autosampler tower?

I am used the working with the Gerstell MPS-2 autosamplers.

That's 7683B. Simply remove the tower by lifting it up. And remember, there is a hook which holds tower cable. Remove cable from this fastener first.
Not a dumb post -- the dumb post would be: "Does anyone know how to reassemble an autosampler. I could not get it away from the injection port, so I took a screwdriver and..."
Guys - I'm sure he knows how to lift off the injector tower - how else could he ever change a septum?

After that's off, remove the top part using the Agilent wrench (larger side) or pulling the flip-top if you have that, and pull out the glass inlet liner from the top.
Go inside the column compartment (a little safer if everything is cooled down), remove the column at the inlet side, use a 1/2 inch wrech to remove the nut (the gold seal will be inside there, note how its sealing washer goes (use a new one); the glass liner will fall downwards if you didn't remove that earlier.

It will stay in place hanging on O-ring stuck to glass.
Actually, when the autosampler of the style of the 7863 came out, I had trouble mounting them and dismounting them for a while because I would try to twist the sampler one way or another -- and it did not move. And I had been using Agilent (back then HP) equipment for some time by then. I don't remember the details of the autosampler that mounted on the 5710--but it was different. I think it took a twist before lifting from the instrument.

With the CTS rail, you do not have to lift the autsampler to gain access to the septum nut on the inlet. (Gerstel is one of several autosamplers that use the CTS rail.)

Bit of an assumption there CPG - we have an ex LC newbie posting, and I recall threads where septa had not been changed for months.

Yep lifted it up and it came right off then just put it back onto the guide posts. Thanks.
First generation Agilent injector towers needed to be twisted, then pulled up to release, no vertical posts.
