Hi!

Can anyone tell me lifetime of foreline pump edwards 1.5 for 5973 MS or working hours? Agilent support told me that we have to replace it because fails to pump down correctly. Problem is budget and this instrument doesn't have more then 6 months working hours in 5 years!

Thanks

I'll just say that the Edwards pumps last long than the Pfeiffer ones !!!

In my opinion Edwards turbo pumps last longer than Pfeipper as well.

One other factor here is that, according to the original post, the pump has seen six months service in five years. If this pump has been standing, turned off with old oil in it, it will not do the instrument much good. The pump shoud have had an oil change or two along the way. Oil changes remove corrosive materials that build up in the oil as the pump is used.

It may be possible to put a rebuild kit into the pump or if it is too far gone, it may be possible to purchase a rebuilt pump on the used instrument market.

Hi!
I have 4 GC/MS system with Edwards pump 1.5 since 10 years.....and 4 other system with Pfeiffer puimp DUO 2.5....all is running 24h/24h
I have rebuilt each Edward pump after 5 year but after 10 year, all pump have some leak, so, i have change all my pump for Agilent DS102
.

For Pfeiffer pump....lifetime was 5 year only, rebuilt after 3 year :(
