Hi all,

I've a very simple question that nobody can seem to answer....

I have created a calibration curve and the equation of the line is displayed in exponential notation (see the highlighed column below.

I would really prefer to have more information than that, but when I try to edit the column properties the data precision and exponential notation is grey-ed out so I can't change this. The is the same when I try to display it in preview publisher.

Can anyone help me to fix this so that I can show all digits in a number without the exponential notation?

If so, that would be so greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

André
attachment did not make it (I think there is a tutorial on doing this in the site's FAQ)

exactly what table, chart or composite group are you using in publisher (there are several that can display a line equation)?
Thanks,
DR

Thanks for replying DR,

I don't know what's happened with the atatchment. It appears fine on my screen. I used the tutorial and it worked for me.

Basically, the equation is displayed as...

Y = 3.07e+005 X + 1.94e+005

and the actual equation of the line is...

y = 306592 x + 194248

I would prefer it displayed as the latter, but when I go to column properties (or indeed all different tables in publisher) the option for "Use Exponential Notation" is greyed out so I can't turn it off.

I hope this has made it somewhat clearer.

Cheers,

Andre
You can access the individual values of your regressionline by the fields A, B, ...
Maybe you can past them together?

Thanks, I'll give it a go and see.
I think you cannot because it looks like a "string" and not number field... look the "Data Type" field.
Hope this help you.
Thanks Luke83,

I saw that it was a string in the field, but hoped that by changing the other columns that contribute to the field the Equation would follow, but it looks like it doesn't seem to want to.

Thanks for your help.

Andre
Was this ever solved?
Hi,

I figured it out a few weeks later. I forgot to post it.

In the Results window of Review, or when looking at the curve in Compare you can see the calibration curve information displayed as A B C D E F. A is the intercept and B is the slope of a linear curve. The other letters are for other fit types.

If you right-click on one of the columns and select Column Properties there is the option there to turn off the exponential notation and also reduce or increase the number of decimal places (as you would for other columns, such as Area). The equation isn't displayed in that form but the information is present in a tangible way.

Hope this helps.
