Storage solvent and cleaning for HILIC column

Hi,

I had one TGKgel Amide 80 column as HILIC column. But i am not sure what solvent system should i use to store it for longer time. May i know what solvent system should i use to store?

Another problem is i notice the pressure is increase/ usage. Is the column has been contaminated? May i know are there any ways to clean it? I have no confident to reverse flush..

Thanks.
Most columns will show a gradual increase in pressure as they age. Packing particles crack, stuff precipitates.

Most columns can be backflushed, but it is always best to contact the column vendor and get cleaning/storage recommendations for that specific column.

Thanks! =)

As strong solvent for my HILIC column is 100 % water. If i back flushing the column with 100 % water with half of the maximun flow rate, is it will cause the collapse of the gel/beads? Because i don't have any confident to do back flushing and i know it somehow will destroy the column. But i will keep it as last choice.

Thanks again..
It's not a question of damaging the packing (the packing is silica and is quite robust), it's a matter of the porosity of the frits. Some columns use a larger-pore frit on the inlet and can be damaged by reverse-flushing. That's why it's a good idea to verify with the vendor first.
