Hello all. I am a Instrument technician here and recently one of the profs bought an Agilent 1100 Series LC (Degasser G1322A, BinPump G1312A, ALS G1313A, Colcomp G1316A and DAD G1315B). Unfortunately, it did not come with any manuals for setup. It is set up for LAN connection and I was wondering if anyone had any documents to help me out. Thanks!
The LAN from the computer typically goes into the Jet Direct card, usually on the detector. From there, a LAN cable goes to each module in series, doesn't matter what order. The vacuum degasser doesn't need/shouldn't be included with a LAN cable.

If you're asking about the computer set-up for LAN, that's beyond me. If the computer/software was included, should just be plug in the cables, get the flow connections attached, etc.
Hello
Here are a few nuances.
1) Connect your computer and the device through a hub on the Enternet or directly with each other. In this case, use a crossover cable (black)
2) Connect the cable to the LAN itself a high-speed block (this is MS or DAD detector) and accedes it to the remaining blocks.
3) Where you find him? It model close off, five year no manufacture. While some still at work in 1090 ...
Hi,

Hopefully the System came with all the cables? To connect each module you need Agilent Can cables. You also need a Jet direct card which goes in the Detector, this is where you connect the Lan cable to the Instrument Lan card.
What CDS system are you using? I only know how to deal with Empower. You will also need the MAc address of the system and you will need to assign the IP address to the System. This can be done with the Instant pilot if you ahve one. Also you need to have up to date firmware on your system. This is for Empower but I assume it is something similiar for other CDS systems.

Agilent website is good for information sometimes.
All the manulas are available for download from the agilent website :)

Note that it also has a lot to do with the age of the system.
Some newer 1100 DADs have an ethernet port attached to the main board while others use a Jet Direct card. Depending on the model of Jet Direct card, you may have to pull it and throw a dip switch in order to get it to use an IP address other than the default. In addition to the hand-held controller, you can use a PC and telnet session to assign an IP address, or you can use BootP software if a chemstation PC is available.

At any rate, the first step it to try to ascertain the MAC address and Ip address currently in use... (failing all else, there should be a sticker on the Jet Direct card, if so equipped that will have a mac address on it and, given the model of card, you can look up a dip switch setting for default IP address and what that address is).
Thanks,
DR

Any ideas on how to use a G1323A to set the IP address, or set the bootp server address?

I can find where the settings are, but I can't find where I can modify it using the controller.

Any help would be appreciated.
watch out, you should never connect CAN port and LAN 12V vs 1.2V. Allways CAN to CAN with streight cable, and jetdirect (or integrated LAN card) with crossover to computer.
If you dn't know the IP of the system, you should take out the jetdirect card, and set all jumpers to 0, then install BotP service on computer. Normaly on booting the system, the system sends information to BotP program, vhere you can, depending on version of BotP, assign new address. If you know the IP and want to change it, you can do it with telnet.

You cannot change IP with controler, I do not remember the right combination of jumpers for jetdirect card, but I think it's all down for botP, 5 up BotP&store, then 6 up for use stored (not sure if this is correct). But you can change the IP with telnet. Just type "telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" in CMD where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is current IP address. Then type "IP yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy" (yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy is new address), then "quit" and you should have new address.
Ok, you're right. The controller just tells you what it is. Turns out the bootp server that came with the Agilent software wasn't working. Eventually set the address, then used telnet to get in, changed the address manually, turned off DHPC, so, now it talks.

Here's the next issue. Firmware update! The pump is still on A.04.06, I need it get it to A.05.11. I downloaded the LAN update tool, type in the IP address of the unit (which Chemstation can see and load up on the same address) and then it says it can't connect.

Any ideas? There are no firewalls setup.
Ok, checked the compatibility on the LAN card. Using an HP JetDirect. I've got K.08.03, need to update it to K.08.04+. See if this makes a difference....

I am almost wondering if I should use the HP update, or if Agilent has one that would be more appriate...
You can get firmware utility sofrware on agilent site and appropriate firmwares http://www.chem.agilent.com/en-US/Suppo ... es/LC.aspx .
Ok, I updated the firmware on the JetDirect card to the most recent revision. The stack still talks to ChemStation, but when using the firmware update tool, it still can't open the connection.

I'm kind of at a loss at this point. I've read throug the FWUpdate PDF on how to update the firmware. I have the firewalls off. Any ideas?
Restarted the units, restarted the computer, tried restarting the update software a few times, and then found that the JetDirect card had some of the protocols turned off. I turned them on, and viola!

I now finally need to update the G1323A gamboy. Best I can find, I have to do it using the PC Card slot and it won't update over LAN. Can anyone confirm? It's on A.02.02, but it looks like it can get to A.02.10.
