Hi,

We are trying to operate 5890/5972 GC/MS with autosampler 6890 with 5973 interface, but ChemStation won't work with the autosampler (error "Can't bring up the injector").
PC: Windows XP Professional
Card: G1680-63715 PCI GPIB Card for Windows NT/2000/XP 82350B
ChemStation software: Rev. B.01.00

We tried different I/O libraries, different autosampler configuration (addresses 8 and 10), numerous re-installations of the chemstation software, we also tried upgrade to B.02.00, but nothing seemed to have any effect. Is there anything else we can do?

Thanks,

Jana

I have the feeling You are trying to operate autosampler which is a couple generations "younger" than software. It is quite likely that this combination is "impossible". MS software was usualy written for certain defined hardware "bundle" - is very "rigid" and sensitive to any changes in hardware.

One possibility would be collect all modules serial numbers, firmware version data and contact Agilent service for advice. I doubt that any user has experience/expertise to solve this, especially with different modules versions/firmware compatibility issues.... However from what I know even in Agilent it is difficult to get in contact whith somebody who knows "old" systems/software well, because these people "move up", retire or just dont remember all the details anymore because of the new developments....

We were actually operating that system quite successfully, only the PC was older and the interface card was older (That PC is in silicone heaven right now). Actually, we were checking compatibility and it should be fine.
