Dear all,

I have Clarus 500 GC with FID. Few days back I had to take out the FID jet assembly for cleaning. While doing so the ceramic tip was broken. I am in serious trouble for this. i shall be thankful if someone could give tips for how could repair the broken ceramic tip.

Thanks,

Azhar

It's a common practice to replace broken FID jets.

Thanks for reply. Actually, I am out of budget at the moment and looking to repair the proken tip. Let me know if you have any idea about that.

Thanks.

Check on the cost of a new jet. These are consumables, like inlet liners and columns -- even though they are not replaced as frequently.

On repair: These have to endure high tempeatures, must be aligned properly, and can not bleed solvents or monomer because this would affect the signal in the flame.

"Poor's man" solution is to use "water glass" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_silicate ) as adhesive.

PS - use only very thinny amount, otherwise you will clog orifice
