I don't have the Coulochem connected to the 1200 LC because I don't know how to do so. I was told by someone at ESA (Thermo) to connect the out start signal from the autosampler to the coulochem. We have a G1367C HiP-ALS autosampler. There are no "out start signal" ports on the back. We have RS-232, Remote, and LAN/CAN ports as well as two CAN DC-out pin plugs that I can't figure out what they are supposed to do.
At the moment we can get the SAT/IN to monitor the baseline using the Empower 2 and we get a signal from the detector. I haven't tried a manual injection while it was monitoring because I'm not sure how to do that without stopping the flow. No, I don't want to set up a secondary injector valve to test it.
When I start an injection, the SAT/IN goes into a ready state but doesn't receive a signal to start collecting data. (The data light never starts blinking which indicates that it's collecting data) During the sample runs, I see the potentials in the cells change on the coulochem display but no data is collected in Empower.
I realize there is an Aglient general purpose cable that goes from the Remote on the autosampler to whatever you plug it in to. Is this the right cable to use? Or is there one from ESA or Waters that I have to use? Do I connect the cable to the SAT/IN box or the detector? And if I do get the cables right, what are the settings supposed to be in Empower 2? There are no "remote signal relay settings" in the instrument setup interface.
The above might sound like a stupid question but dammit Jim I'm a chemist not an electrician!
