Hi,
Is there a way to run samples and NOT print reports? I do not need to have a printed report and I am wasting a lot of paper.

I am running Chemstation B.02.05 on a Agilent 5972 MS
Thanks

We have 5972A MSD but way older software, we do not get printed reports. Our software is G1701AA, A.02. But I'll try, for our software.

Do you have the Method saved which includes one or more reports checked, in Select Reports (e.g. percent report, library search report)? If so, do any of these reports (in Data Analysis) have the box checked to Print the reports. That could be the reason.
I have E02 with my Agilents, but there is an option when you set-up a method to tell it to auto print reports. For our stuff I go into method editing and click through the screens; try this with your and see if you have something checked to auto print.

Hope this helps.
I seem to recall if you go edit, edit entire method, then you could un-check Data Analysis, as mentioned by Consumer Products Guy.

I also once found that in the Deuser.mac of the method, that someone had added a command function, so this may be a place to look too (took me a while to find where they had hidden it :) ).

Alternatively, I once set up a vitural printer, and deletes the files, I think microsoft office comes with a virtual printer, alternatively there are free PDF printers, eg CutePDF. That you can look at the PDFs if you want the PDF, then keep, otherwise delete.

Usual caveat that I have an older version of ChemStation (B.01.03), but if I edit the method I get a Select Report screen with tick boxes for printing reports to printer, screen etc. I suspect you have one of these ticked.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

EntomoChem,

Print the report to the screen. Don't kill trees, do get quantitation. Do have to close the current screen report to do anything but that's not that big a deal.

Best regards,

Thanks to everyone for the help!

If all else fails, set your default printer to be Adobe pdf. You get the reports without killing the trees.
