Hello all,
I have been searching for a gc/ms standard of thiol esters (which includes methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, etc). Restek said they did not have the proper ventilation to make a custom standard that included all the chemicals I am interested in. What is another good place to look?
Thank you.
I'm confused about the term you use. Methyl mercaptan and ethyl mercaptan are esters? The sulfur compounds standard is a gas mixture, not liquid mixture.
m.finnBMBM,

JI2002 raises a good point about the methyl mercaptan being a gas.

You might try ISGAS or DCG out of Houston. Either of them can probably provide what you are interested in.

Best regards,

AICMM
Thank you. I've sent out some inquiries. I am also having trouble figuring out how to find these compounds in a sample. I want to see if there is any methyl mercaptan in a sample that contains a lot of methanol. What would be the best way to see if there are any mercaptans present? SPE, methylene chloride extraction? All under very cold conditions, of course.
