Agilent gcms

I have the 5973 MS and 6890 GC from Agilent. Does anybody know how to change the filament energy?
I assume it is 70 eV currently but can't see anyplace to change it either in tune or in the GC method.

Thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc,

It is just above where you found the line to change filaments in your post
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18617&start=0
It is labeled ElEnrgy, and the value can only be changed if you click on the horizontal scroll bar.
Near the bottom of the window.( I am assuming you are using atune.u, as I seem to recall
faintly that EPA tune were preset or predefined?)

Are you just trying to see high masses in an analyte or is the 502 ion failing, even after thorough
cleaning or using an known working ion source from a different MS?

Alex

Thanks Alex,

Yes, I did find it in the manual tune box. I was hoping to drop the electron impact energy in hopes that I might see
some of the molecular ion for 1,3 butanediol. Alas, but no change in spectra even dropping down to 40 eV. I was
extrememly surprised to find very little change in anything including intensities etc dropping down that low.

I have propanoic acid and butanediol coluting and also having all the same major ions. I will try esterifying the acid.
