Connecting Agilent 35900E A/D to OpenLab

Hi guys...

I'm struggeling with this problem:

I have a working 1260-tower with openlab via LAN.. I have an Agilent ELSD which is connected via RS232 and this also works ok.

Now i want to connect a 3rd party instrument using a Agilent 35900E A/D converter. I've placed a third network-card in the PC (1 for 1260 tower, 1 for network and 1 for a/d converter), but i can't seem to find the way to connect this...

I read all the manuals i could find on this subject, but i can't seem to connect my 35900E to my computer. The connection is there (via LAN), but i can't find the IP of this box.. I tried to use BootP-server, but this also didn't work properly (Some socket error).

Any tips (Maybe standard-IP address) on how to easily connect and communicate?

Thanks!

Hello Kluiven!

Сonnection is done via the HUB, which connects 3 devices (1260-tower, 35900E and PC). Consequently, the instrument (HPLC) must have LAN-interface (G1369A), the same interface also must be in 35900E.

Of those interfaces must go the cables which connected to the HUB. (1260\35900E - 2\3 channel), 1 channel - Computer.

From Each LAN-interface written out MAC-address (it is on the back panel or on the board). And then through the "Bootp server" program, address prescribed MAC and set the ping.

p.s. turn off the firewall in advance

Thank you!
With best regards
Dmitry

Hi Dmitry,

Thanks for the answer...

Actually the problem has been resolved already.. Seemed i did everything right except...:

Our A/D Converter has a LAN-card on board... By default all switches on the card are set to 0.

Seems our Agilent-enigneer thought it was a good idea to give the card an IP by BootP and store that (Switch 5 on LAN-card set to 1). This means that even with BootP, the IP stays the same.

We finally figured that out and after switching back switch 5, we had connection almost immediately...

So.. problem solved.. I'll leave it here as a tip for the rest of you... Maybe saves you some headaches... :(
