Hi

Generally the purge pump in Agilent HPLC systems comes with a gold seal. May I know what is purpose of preparing this is of gold ??
1. Gold is extremely resistant to almost everything.

2. Gold is soft, so seals well. These can oftentimes be re-used.

On autombiles, oftentimes drain plugs, banjo seals, etc., are sealed by copper washers for similar reason: inert, and compress to seal well.
thanks
was just wonderment...In UPLC most of the ferrules are gold platted, are they for the same reason ??
