5973N Turbo Pump noise

I have an Agilent 5973N GCMS and at random times the turbo pump sounds as if it is a vent cycle when none has been initiated. This only lasts for a couple minutes then the sound of the pump returns to normal. I have checked vacuum status at the same time this noise begins, and it remains at 100%. Any ideas on what may be the cause and suggestions for solutions are very appreciated. Thanks!!

If the turbo pump pitch changes without prompting or serious vacuum leak it is time to price a new one.

I was afraid that it may the end of the line for the turbo, it is over 10 years old. Thanks Steve!
