We have been experiencing issues with our HP 5971 MSD, I have been tasked with cleaning the instrument. As I have no formal knowledge of the instrument and no one in the lab has experience shutting down the MSD correctly, can anyone offer a manual or the correct method to shut down the MSD for cleaning?

The MS had an error after the solvent delay and would shut down. This was fixed by manually turning on the MS before shooting. Now, we cannot turn on the MS and the error we have been getting is "excessive source pressure". From talking with the technician that helped set-up the GCMS, he believes it is due to contamination, however, he was not available for guidance in shutting down the MSD properly.

Thank you for your help.

We have a video from HP about this, for 5971. I mean HP, before Agilent spin-off. It's on VHS tape.
