I plan to purchase a refurbished TurboVap LV form Labx. However, the vender just give 30 days warranty. I see other lab use TurnoVap II which is robust. Is TurboVap LV robust too? Which part is most vulnerable?
I have purchased two of them, one is ~10 years old. Neither has required any service beyond initial set up.
Thanks a lot Steve!
We have several of both, and have had one LV ("mine") for at least 15 years, I think. Pretty much all are still working--they are pretty rugged. We have had a regulator knob break--fairly easy to replace. I used to evaporate lots of acidic extracts, so the nozzles on mine started corroding. I bought the Teflon-coated upgrades and replaced them a couple years back.

If I could figure out how, I'd disable the end-of-run alarm, but otherwise I love my TurboVap.

Make sure you get the racks that are the right size for you tubes. The racks are pricey, but an integral part of why the instrument works.

IIs and LVs are NOT generally interchangeable. Depending on the volume you are evaporating, you will want one or the other. LVs are usually a good match for SPE extract volumes. We got the IIs to replace rotovaps from when we used sep funnels to do LLE. Now we mostly scale down LLE so we can use LVs.
