Trap type

Hello,

I am using 7890A with a Tekmar Atomx p&t. I want to replace the trap but the tekmar parts sheet has several different "U" shaped traps listed and I am not sure which one is currently installed (I would like to replace with the same one). What is the best way for me to figure it out? There don't seem to be any markings on the trap.

Also, when it comes to replacing a trap, I have a lot of experience with tekmar 2000/3000 concentrators, but the atomx seems rather more complicated. Any insight would be helpful!

Thanks for your help,
Jon Klar

There is a letter or number stamped into the gold nut that has a ferrule attached to it ( if it came with your unit I bet it's a #9). You then look in the Atomx manual to see which trap it is. Supelco now sells a Vocarb 3000 trap directly to us ( type K).
Don't know anything about the Atomx but I like my Stratum better than the ealier Velocity I had.
Only thing I can warn you of is that the graphite/vespel ferrule on the trap may not come out when you change traps ( unless they have re designed the mount). I just leave the ferrule in and re use it. It does not seem to be a problem as it's on the exit side of the trap while purging.
