Hello,
I have two issues on gas analysis can I get solution ?

I have an issue of Oxygen detection in argon (1 :100 ration) does any body have answer to this problem ? I got a chromatogram of Hysep-A packed column of 36 feet length in which the elution order is reverse than MS 5A column i.e Oxygen elutes before Ar,does any body tried this column?

What will be MDL for Amonia on TCD using Argon and Helium carrier gas respectively?

I tried the 36ft Hayesep A column once and was unsuccessful.

But your solution lies I believe in the detector. The argon ionization detector should meet your needs.

See Matthew at AIC for details. 505-890-6096 He posts as AICMM on this forum.

Orthodyne supply an Argon ionisation detector ideal for looking at impurities in Argon :)

vdkadam1,

My argon ionization detector will not do the analysis you request. Mine is more like a PID on steroids, will do compounds up to about 11.5 eV. The one from Orthodyne is the one detector that I am aware of that can do oxygen in argon.

My other suggestion, and the route that most of the air sep people I know use, is to simply get a dedicated O2 analyzer (usually these are rack mounted.)

Best regards,

Thanks, AICMM.

I knew you would know the answer.
