Read sequence and method files

I am sorry in case this isn't the best place to ask this question. Unfortunately, I am pretty new to the field and I think few of you might have found yourselves in the same boots as I am in currently.

I have a scenario where I would like to read and decode the sequence and method files written by EZChrom HPLC. Unfortunately these files are written in binary format. I need to do this using a programming language. So its more of a computer science related side of EZChrom HPLC.

Because there are several HPLC vendors, each one of them coming up with his/her sequence and method files, I was wondering if there was a standard format to write these files so that they remain usable across different vendors and machines. Any pointers?

Hi,
Try to export the sequence with data in AniML format and see if all you want is there. The AniML file content depends on vendor, but in case of Chromeleon, all information is there within XML tags. The method is part of the data file. Hope it helps.

That leaves me essentially with another intriguing question. Are there any suitable command line tools which can do that export for me? Or am I supposed to this export manually using the machine's software.

I'm not familar with EZChrom, but it should have cmds with in EZChrom to do it and it should also be able to program the task, check the manual.
