Hello,

I just want to know something about TLC. My method ask me to use a plate with particles dimension of 250µm. Is there anything in USP book that state the change in dimension allowed cause we do have some plates in our lab but dont know if we can use them. Is +/- 10% the normal limits? We've search in the chapter 621 chromatography but didnt find anything on the topic. Anything would help.

Are you sure you talk about particle dimension here? 0,250mm is a typical layer thickness not size of particles that rahter tends to be 5-10µm?!

But agreed, 621 do not specify any allowed dimesion changes as for GC/LC.

And yeah i was wrong about the dimension. It was the film thickness....

As krikos indicated, 0.25 mm is a fairly standard film thickness, so unless the box of plates is clearly labelled otherwise, that's probably what they are. If you meet the system suitability criteria, you should be good to go.
