6890 HPIB connection to new computer

Our 6890 uses HPIB communication. We need to connect it to a new computer that only has PCIe slots. We purchased an Agilent 82351A PCIe-GPIB Interface card for this purpose. The card is recognized by the computer and it recognizes that a device is connected to the card (the 6890 is attached) but is not communicating with it. Does anyone have experience getting this combination working under ChemStation? It would seem like a common issue, but Agilent has not been very helpful with this.

I've used 82341 and 82350 cards with GPIB, and each of those was set to "hp82341" lower case, no matter which card was physically installed, and the bus set to 30. I don't know if the 82351 is similar.
I think I'd call Agilent telephone help 800-227-9770.

What version of chemstation. I use an HPIB 6890 and use the latest version that supports this old technology ( 1701 D.03 ).

Thanks for your comments. It is a hardware, not a software issue. The 82341 and 82350 will not work since they don't plug into PCIe slots. I did find a company (CSS Analytical) that sells a LAN board upgrade to fit into the 6890 to convert from HPIB to LAN. This seems like the best option.

Am I wrong or isn't there now a USB connection instead of GPIB board?

Yeah get the GPIB to USB adapter and install IO Libraries (should come on a CD with the adapter.)
You could also lan upgrade and run it using ethernet, more costly but will allow you to newer revisions of software (GPIB connectivity was phased out in chemstation B.04.02 I think, might be B.04.01.)

Problem is you shouldn't use the hardware driver. ChemStation should take control of the hardware. To me best way is to consult with ChemStation people and ask them for a proper version of ChemStation of see if you can custom adjust ChemStation for your setup.
