PEEK Tubing Length

Are there any issues (aside from temperature variations) with using a five foot length of PEEK tubing, from an autosampler on one system to a UV detector on another system? I need to calibrate the autosampler, however, it is attached to an IC detector.

What inner diameter tubing are you planning to use? If you use ~0.8 mm your peak will spread enormously (laminar flow....), it may be acceptable at 0.1 mm i. d. Why don´t you run some tests and tell us about the results.

Personally I would temporarily move the detector a lot closer to the autosampler - you know if you don't someone won't see the PEEK and try to walk through it

I agree with Geoff! If you do decide to run a few test injections with the 5' of tubing, make sure you stick some brightly coloured tape/paper to the tubing to make it obvious. Otherwise, that's a lot of expensive kit to pick up off the floor...

We do all kinds of long connections for LCMS. Probably will work fine, use 5 thousandths tubing.

I used 5 thousandths tubing, and got tailing factor of 1.6 for 10 replicate 20 microliter injections, using a caffeine solution. Thank you for all of your help and advice.
