So based on discussions here it seems that a Varian 3800 with the 2000 MS needs MS Workstation. I am looking at buying a refurbished unit and the seller is stating Chemstation works for control and acquisition. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? I think it's a no go but I figured I'd get a second opinion. TIA.
I have never heard of conventional Chemstation software being able to control a Varian 3800/2000 system. Agilent MassHunter controls the former-Varian 200 series ion traps but not sure about the 3800 GC.

In my opinion, your best option is to obtain Varian MS Workstation. It's a great software package.
