Bis-Tris buffer compatibility with ESI-MS?

Hello,

Thinking about using Bis-Tris methane buffer with my C18 RP column. I am separating on a gradient that goes from 50:50 THF:DCM -> 100% Hexanes. This feeds into an ESI-MS. I know certain buffers are not compatible with ESI (TFA). Does anyone have any experience with this or any advice?

Hexane is very flammable and health hazardous as well. I would not do it.

Reg tris. We found that it reduce the signal due to ionization competition. Plus the cleaner is the mob phase the less maintenance. We use the simplest (small molecule) buffers possible at low conc.

I have read that Tris, HEPES, and phosphate buffers can clog the MS inlet capillary as they are non-volatile. Do you experience problems with this?
NH3, Tris and TEA at 5mM are OK for UPLCMSMS. We also did IC UPLC MSMS of inorganic cations - no problems with capillary blocking.
Amines give quenching of signal above this concentration and frequent cone/source cleaning is needed.
