Hi

As I recall there are some published papers on that BDE-209 degrades even on GC column at 300°C over time, signifactly faster and earlier if a less inert column is used.
Hence shorter columns (like 15m) with thinner films of good quality is generally recommended to minimise residence time in column and elute BDE-209 before 300°C.

Pyrolysis seems like an odd technique for a flame retardant that is supposed to break down at elevated temperatures, but maybe it is a proven technique nowdays.
