HI,
I was trying to connect 7890A Agilent GC to Empower 2 using DHCP configuration, all the IP set on GC and head space and Ethernet card.
When I ping them all its communicating. But when I configure it in empower the Head space seems to be connecting, not GC.
Anyone have came across some thing like this?
Windows firewall is off aswell.
Thanks

Does the 7890 show up in the instruments list at all or is it missing? When you go into the DHCP tab in node properties, are all 4 fields populated for the GC?
Make sure the firewall service is shut off (not just set to off in the control panel but that the service is actually stopped or that, if it is just selected to off in the firewall window, make sure that the advanced tab has the LAN port unchecked. The service still has function in the background even if selected to off in the firewall window.
Also, look at IP address assigned to the card and make sure there is not the alternate address of 64.64.64.1 assigned as well as the 192.168.0.x.
Make sure firmware on GC is compatible with ICS (seen in release notes for ICS).
It never hurts to reboot. Turn on computer, allow to initialize to windows then turn on GC for IP address to be assigned.

HI,
Thanks for your help, still not resolved the issue, I did not turn off the Windows Firewall Service yet.
When I turn off the Water Service, the GC gets connected. Is this rings any bell?

In the advanced tab of the firewall, make sure that the 7890 is checked if it shows up in the list. Also, go to the exceptions tab and uncheck your instrument LAN. Regardless of whether this is the issue right now you should do this anyway to prevent future problems.
Go into the DHCP tab and make sure all 4 fields are populated. If all 4 fields are not there than manually populate them.
Next, you might want to reload the ICS. Before you do that, run verify files and see if there have been any changes made to any of the checksum files. If there are changes then call Waters tech support. Sometimes the order of installation of the ICS's can affect the software.
Regardless, if you still have the problem, you should call the tech support line for Waters.
