Hi all,

I'm preparing a method file in Chemstation based on one that other people are using. They send us the method file but unfortunately we cannot open it in our Chemstation (probably because our version is older) so I have been reviewing the file named IQ1.MTH to interpret how the method is in fact.

I could understand almost all the parameters but mainly I cannot figure out those related to the Front Inlet.

Does anyone know where I could find the meaning of these parameters?

IFCW
IFZW
IFCR
IFDP

Other unknown parameters are:

GCPO
GCPU

For the Front Inlet (EPC Purged Packed Inlet), in the Chemstation I can only set:
- Total flow
- Heater setpoint temperature

but I cannot do any ramp and I have the impression that the parameters that I cannot understand have something to do with this.

Can anyone help me with this problem?
(in the Agilent webpage I could not find anything about this IQ1.MTH file)

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you Chemviren,

I'll wait for your answer. My main problem is with the Front Inlet parameters. Differences between my IQ1.MTH file and their file are:

- IFCW (they have this parameter too but the first 2 values are different)
- I don't have IFZW
- IFPP (they don't have this parameter)
- I don't have IFCR and IFDP

I will try to ask them for the 'sreenshots' too...

Thank you in advance for your help!
Alba,

In the recent versions of ChemStation, the ramp function is set up in the column parameters, not the inlet. You have to tell ChemStation to which inlet your column is connected to and to which detector.

With regards to your other questions, it looks a though the GC that you are tring to set up may be completely different to the one that is supplying the method. Some of the codes are as follows:

GCPU Pressure units. This is what is displayed. Internally all pressure calculations are done in dynes/cm2

GCPO Post Run set points

IFCR Front Inlet Cryo set points

IFDP These are the pneumatic setpoints for a special inlet from Analytical controls used in Simulated Distillation

IFCW Configuration Workfile for the front inlet

IFPP Purged Packed inlet pneumatic setpoints

Gasman
Dear Gasman,

thank you for your answer regarding the meaning of the parameters.

Do you know what IFZW and IFRC refer to? In my IQ1.MTH file I have different negative and positive values for IFRC, while in the other IQ1.MTH file they only have zeros. I don't have IFZW

They said to us that they have the same GC model (Agilent 6890N), but we are not sure about the front inlet type... Could only this part of the GC explain the differences? Do you know if it is possible to deduce the front inlet type according to the information conained in the IQ1.MTH file?

In version A.09.?? of ChemStation (an old one?) should I also set up the ramp function in the column parameters, then?

Again, thank you in advance for your help!
