Limit of detection and area under the curve

Hi,

Please let me know if I can use the Mean + 3xSTD to determin the LOD in case of an HPLC where I evaluate the area under the curve. In this case how do I do to measure the area under the curve for the baseline noise?

Please help me with suggestions in this case.

Thank you very much to all of you

Step 1: search through these forums and you will find discussions on determination of LOD and LOQ.
If that does not do it, I would suggest looking at the US EPA methods - they are online and free. they have rules for finding limits of detection.

One advantage to the "statistical" approach (based on the standard error of the y-intercept) is that you don't have to measure the noise.
