Noisy 5890 FID when using LN2 cryogen

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Noise levels are normal when above ambient. Noise does not vary with the pulsing of the LN2 valve. Noise is probably 10x what it is under ambient conditions. I've tried wrapping the portion of the detector located in the oven with insulation (in addition to what is already used). No effect. Any thoughts? Thanks.
What kind of column and what kind of detector?
Is the noise in the form of rapid fluctuations, or a slow baseline drift ? If possible post a picture of the baseline - instructions are in a sticky at the top of the GC page.
