Regeneration of cyclodextrin TFA column

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hi everyone. I have a few questions about column regeneration I was hoping someone more experienced in GC could answer. I have a Chiraldex gamma-cyclodextrin TFA chiral column that has been in storage in our research group for about 3 years. Unfortunately it was not sealed and now gives ok performance but no chiral separation at all. As a new column is 1.5k I want to try regenerate it first.

My question is, what kind of performance can I expect if I regenerate it? My compounds have a separation of only about 60 seconds on a 0.3 degree heating ramp, so I'd like to know if I am wasting my time!

Also, if I end up storing a working column in future, do i absolutely need to flame seal it under vacuum? Any less permenant techniques i could try?

Thanks, D.
New columns I would flame seal under an inert gas, N2, Ar, or He.

I doubt you can regenerate the present column.

I hope the best for your situation.
