Hi,

What Internal or Injection standard can I use for PAH analysis using GCMS

can I use this http://www.restek.com/catalog/view/6630

Suggestions please.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I would use that. I used to use the "Non-revised" 8270 SV internal Std mix (didn't have the dioxane in it) and that worked great. My only concern is that the latest eluting ISTD doesn't represent the latest eluting PAHs in the EPA 16 (i think it was indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene, BaP and another...). You will notice lower response for these when using glass wool liner that get slightly contaminated. Restek has a good article on using a 10:1 split at 80°C instead of the typical splittless at 40°C. The see better peak resolution for the early eluters and about the same sensitivity. You will also get less inlet contamination etc. and be able to run more samples. If you are only running PAHs I would recommend trying this technique.

It would be nice if this ISTD also had a Deuterated BaP or something heavier in it for these late eluters. Maybe consider buying it individually and adding it into your ISTD working solution.
