I've been reading about the nitrogen chemiluminescence detector and was wondering how the sensitivity compares to the NPD. There isn't a whole lot of literature available on it but it would be great not to have to deal with those clunky, unstable NPD beads. Does anyone have experience with it?

I understand the NCD doesn't detect phosphorus compounds which isn't a big deal for us.

Have only worked with total nitrogen version of this detector and then read articles. Supposed to be highly specific and somewhat fussy. The total nitrogen I have worked with has pretty decent stability but it is not trying to catch a GC peak so I am not sure it is absolutely equivalent. Shouldn't decay in the same way as NPD bead although there are lots of tricks about limiting that.

Biggest issue is the cost, which is very significant compared to NPD.
